The Chaveta — The Soul of Cigar Rolling
The chaveta is the cigar roller’s essential tool, an extension of the hands and the soul of the craft.
Some rollers prefer larger blades, while others favor smaller ones. That preference reflects individual technique and working style, rather than hand size alone.
Our medium-sized chaveta features a distinctive, streamlined shape with one broader end and one narrower end. Simply turn the blade to work with the end you prefer, enjoying the versatility of a larger or smaller cutting profile in a single tool.
Carbon Steel. Made to Last.
Crafted from carbon steel, a material widely used in cutting tools, this chaveta takes an edge well and can provide a lifetime of service with proper care.
Why a Traditional Chaveta Has No Handle
A chaveta does more than cut tobacco. Its flat surface is also used to gently press and smooth the cigar, making freedom of movement essential.
An added handle can interfere with these motions, restrict how the blade rests against the working surface, and interrupt the rhythm of the rolling process.
Our traditional design allows you to turn the chaveta freely, change your working angle, and use its full versatility throughout the craft.
A Note on Sharpening
Your chaveta should be sharp enough to make clean, controlled cuts, but an excessively fine edge is unnecessary.
Avoid cutting deeply into your wooden cutting board. Repeated cuts can leave grooves and create an uneven working surface that may mark the delicate wrapper leaf and affect the finished appearance of your cigars.
Care for your blade and your board together. Both play an important role in a beautifully finished cigar.
